Blame Ruto If Anything Happens to Me’ — MP Jayne Kihara Raises Alarm After Security Withdrawal

NAIVASHA, KENYA — Naivasha Member of Parliament Jayne Kihara has come out strongly against President William Ruto, alleging that her life is in danger following the sudden withdrawal of her official security detail.

In a press conference held on Friday, Kihara accused the Head of State of using state security agencies to intimidate political leaders aligned with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. She linked the removal of her bodyguard to political retaliation and warned that any harm that might befall her should be squarely blamed on President Ruto.

“I now feel vulnerable and naked. If anything happens to me, let Kenyans know who to hold responsible,” she said.

The outspoken legislator criticized what she described as a betrayal of President Ruto’s campaign promise not to weaponize state security for political ends. She further urged the Head of State to remain true to his public pledge to uphold democratic space and protect all elected leaders regardless of political alignment.

“This is not the kind of leadership we expected. The people of Kenya deserve better,” she added.

Kihara’s remarks come amid mounting political tensions between camps allied to President Ruto and those seen to support his deputy, signaling deepening cracks within the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition.

The Interior Ministry and State House have yet to issue an official response to her claims.
