Detectives in Bomet Central have arrested Wesley Cheruiyot Koech, 28, for the gruesome murder of Rachealine Rutto, 45, inside her home.
Rutto’s mutilated body was discovered by her daughter last Tuesday after repeated calls to her mother went unanswered. Authorities revealed that the body bore deep neck wounds and multiple stab injuries.
Following a manhunt, Koech was tracked down to Sailo village in Kipkelion East, where he was found with incriminating evidence, including a bloodstained knife, Rutto’s ring, and disturbing photos of the crime scene on his phone.
Investigations indicate that the murder was motivated by a long-standing grudge after Rutto ended their romantic relationship in 2016 when Koech was 19. Allegedly, he felt betrayed after financially supporting her.
The suspect is in custody, awaiting court proceedings.
