Court Issues Interim Orders in Rape Allegations Case Against Musician Samidoh

The High Court has issued interim orders barring popular Kikuyu musician Samuel Muchoki, widely known as Samidoh, from contacting or interfering with a woman who has accused him of rape.

Justice Lawrence Mugambi, in his ruling, directed that Samidoh, either personally or through his associates, must refrain from intimidating, harassing, or otherwise interfering with the complainant, identified in court documents only by the initials M.R.W. to protect her dignity and safety.

The court further ordered that all pleadings and case documents remain sealed to safeguard the complainant’s identity, and where necessary, hearings will be conducted in camera. Police have also been instructed to forensically preserve all forms of evidence, including audio recordings, digital messages, and other electronic materials linked to the complaint.

M.R.W. alleges that the artist sexually assaulted her and continued to manipulate and intimidate her between 2021 and 2023. She claims to have retained digital evidence of the assault and subsequent communications, including messages where the musician allegedly insulted and threatened her.

Through her lawyers, Kaaya Memba & Company Advocates, the petitioner has requested the court to compel investigations, preserve her evidence, and direct the Attorney General to seek mutual legal assistance with U.S. authorities for certified prosecutorial and police records. She has also asked the Witness Protection Agency to evaluate her risk and offer protection.

In her petition, M.R.W. argues that the state’s failure to act on her complaint violates her constitutional rights, including dignity, equality, personal security, access to justice, and fair administrative action.

The case is set to proceed after all parties are served with the petition within seven days, with responses expected in the same timeframe.
